Weathervanes

Welcome to our weathervane pages, we are happy to offer three types of weathervanes.

V-Tech Resin Weathervanes are a durable low cost weathervane with outstanding detail.

Our V-Tech Resin Weathervanes, designed by William H. McElvain are fully functional weathervanes and are made of resin. Each weathervane is made by pouring polyvinyl into a mold. The actual material is a resin material that is polyvinyl chloride. These are heavy weathervanes and will take higher winds with ease. The normal full size resin weathervane figure can weigh between 8lbs – 10lbs.

V-Tech resin weathervanes are painted in the copper color or green/blue color to match our cupolas. You can paint them different colors if you wish to match your own unique home decor or garden decor. We do recommend if you wish to keep the original color to add a few coats of lacquer over the paint. If you wish to paint your resin weathervane, we recommend an outdoor paint followed with a few coats of clear coat lacquer.

Resin Weathervanes take about 3-5 MPH breeze to move them well. You must add grease to the spindle to keep them from squeaking and for easier turning. Please note the weathervanes work best when hit directly by the wind. This is one of the reasons weathervanes are most often located on high points of homes and barns.

All of our resin weathervanes will fit all of our mounts or cupolas. Our cupolas are weathervane ready and do not require a mount. The cupola is the mount.

The Copper Traditional Weathervanes

We offer two types of copper weathervanes; handmade weathervanes that are manufactured in Maine and imported copper weathervanes. Our handmade weathervanes are made using 2 sheets of 16 oz copper and formed in either the free hand method or hand hammered into small molds. Both types of copper weathervanes are a wonderful addition to your home. They will give that special touch to your outdoor decor for decades to come. Each weathervane comes with the figure, the rod, copper spacer balls and directionals.

All of our copper weathervanes will fit all of our cupolas or mounts. Our cupolas are weathervane ready and do not require a mount. The cupola is the mount.

Wooden Hand Carved Custom Weathervanes

These weathervanes are hand carved from basswood then hand painted and topped with three coats of lacquer. These custom wooden weathervanes are only carved when ordered. Each wooden weathervane is a unique piece of art and will add to your outdoor and garden decor.

All of our wooden weathervanes will fit all of our cupolas or mounts. Our cupolas are weathervane ready and do not require a mount. The cupola is the mount.

Weathervane Parts:

Just need a few parts to be able to put grandpa’s weathervane back on the roof line, then one of our weathervane parts may be all you need. We offer a wide selection of weathervane parts for your aging weathervane.

Our weathervane rods have different size spindles; please make sure you know what size you need before ordering the rod or weathervane parts combo.

Weathervane Mounts:

We have so many different types of mounts that will serve different purposes. First figure out where you want to mount the weathervane then once this is decided - browse our mounts. Our roof mounts will go right on the top of the roof. Our eave mounts will mount right onto the front face board of the eave. If you are located on the ocean then a stainless steel mount is recommended, if you are out in Kansas – then a steel mount will work great. Three and four prong mounts are great for peaks and post mounts are great when mounting on a post out in the garden. No matter which mount you choose, each will fit all our weathervanes.
